It wasn’t long before major corporations started their own research into wheat grasses and other grasses. Quaker Oats was one of the early companies that conducted wheatgrass research. These companies also sold wheatgrass products.

Shortly after Schabel’s chicken research, there was research and development done on the effect of wheatgrass on cows. Cows that were fed wheatgrass were found to have healthier calves and these cows also produced more milk. Women who drank milk from grass eating cows were found to have healthier babies.

Ann Wigmore conducted her own wheatgrass research beginning in the 1920’s and continuing for several decades. She found that all grasses had health benefits and she found that wheatgrass had more benefits than any other grass. Wigmore set up her own institute to conduct more whole food research.

As a whole food, wheatgrass has been found to have many beneficial ingredients. Many vitamins are found in wheatgrass. These vitamins include vitamin A, the B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin K, and vitamin E.

While wheatgrass was praised for its benefits throughout history, it only came under the scrutiny of scientific research and development in the twentieth century.
